Radiation Therapists are part of the oncology team that treats patients with cancer. Radiation Therapists work with linear accelerators in order to deliver radiation therapy. Responsible for many treatment-related tasks, radiation therapists explain the course of treatment to patients, follow safety procedures, examine, maintain and operate the equipment they work with, verify computer data to ensure the machine delivers the correct dose of radiation in the appropriate location, monitor patients to check for unusual reactions, and keep detailed, accurate treatment records.

Radiation Therapy
Radiation Therapists are skilled medical professionals and essential members of a patient's cancer treatment program. The radiation used to treat cancer may come from a machine outside the body, or it may come from radioactive material placed in the body near tumor cells or injected into the bloodstream. A Radiation Therapist may participate in a treatment protocol in which patients receive radiation therapy alone, or in combination with chemotherapy.
