American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital General Surgery unit, requiring BLS certification and CST or LVN/LPN licensure.

• Hospital General Surgery unit position
• 5 days per week, 8-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• Weekend and on-call requirements
• Floating to PMC required
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• BLS certification via AHA required
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential or LVN/LPN license required (license required if applicable)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required
• 2+ years of experience preferred
• Proficiency scrubbing 3 specialty areas such as Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, or Robotics highly preferred

Additional Information

• Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, including skin prep and patient positioning
• Maintain aseptic technique and monitor for potential breaches throughout procedures
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite
• Establish and maintain the sterile field, passing instruments and sutures to the physician as directed
• Use and maintain physician preference cards when pulling cases and setting up the OR
• Work collaboratively as part of the surgical team under the direction of a professional nurse
• Maintain proper traffic control, dress code, and adherence to OR sanitation policies
• Identify and care for biological specimens according to hospital standards
• Adapt care methods to meet population-specific and developmental needs of patients served
• Returning employees who previously worked at any CHRISTUS facility must be separated for at least 6 months prior to starting a new travel assignment
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies for local candidate consideration
