American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Technologist for a Magnet-designated teaching hospital with Level III Trauma designation, requiring at least 1 year of CVOR experience.

• 13-week assignment in a CVOR unit within a Short Term Acute Care, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with Level III Trauma designation
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, either 6:45am-6:45pm or 10:45am-10:45pm
• Facility features 6 total ORs including 4 standard ORs, 1 Hybrid OR, and 1 PV OR
• Cardiac case types include CABG (on/off pump), AVR, MVRR, TVRR, aortic aneurysm/dissection repair, total artificial heart, heart transplant, LVAD implantation, minimally invasive valve replacement, and trans-catheter mitral/aortic/tricuspid valve replacement
• Vascular case types include endovascular and open procedures such as AAA repair, thoracic and thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair including fenestrated grafts, endarterectomy, peripheral bypass, amputation, and ECMO decannulation/repositioning
• Preferred case exposure includes General, Endo/Laparoscopic, Vascular, Thoracic, Bariatric, and Transplant surgery
• On-call requirements include up to 2 weekends per month, up to 2 weekdays per week, and holiday call as needed
• No floating to sister facilities required
• Uses Epic/Excellian charting system
• 40 hours per week

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience required
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification required
• License required if applicable
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with vascular procedures preferred, including carotid angioplasty, carotid artery stenting, and vein stripping
• Experience with cardiovascular procedures preferred, including atrial septal defect repair and cardiomyoplasty
• Skilled in aseptic technique, instrument processing, specimen handling/labeling, sterilization/disinfection, and Universal Protocol time-out procedures
• Familiarity with case cart and crash cart equipment
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Support cardiac and vascular surgical procedures including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aneurysm repairs, and VAD/ECMO cases
• Assist with hybrid OR and transplant procedures, including heart transplant and organ donation cases
• Maintain sterile fields and adhere to aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Participate in instrument and specimen handling, sterilization, and time-out protocols
• Facility provides scrubs specific to this position
• No block scheduling accommodations offered
• RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
• Returning staff must have been separated from perm employment (staff or per diem) for at least 3 months prior to starting a travel assignment
• Local candidates accepted
• Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility will not be accepted for this position
• May float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
