American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a General Surgery position at a Level II trauma center, requiring 2 years of OR/trauma experience.

Details

• Level II trauma center hospital setting within the General Surgery department
• Serves Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patient populations
• 4x10-hour shifts including Mon, Fri, Sat, and Sun from 0645-1715
• No call requirements
• May require floating to other departments based on organizational needs and competency level
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience required in OR and Trauma settings
• Current BLS certification required per American Heart Association standards
• License required if applicable
• Skilled in scrub duties and providing technical patient care under RN supervision
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and maintain sterile field integrity
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume surgical environment

Additional Information

• Supply the operating room with appropriate equipment and instrumentation for scheduled procedures
• Maintain sterility of the surgical field and assist surgeons by passing instruments in a timely manner
• Perform duties such as suctioning, holding retractors, applying electrocautery, cutting suture material, and connecting drains under direct supervision
• Prepare instrumentation and equipment for subsequent cases following procedure completion
• Assist with room turnover to support efficient surgical scheduling
• Report any equipment malfunctions and ensure equipment is functioning properly before procedures
• Work in a Level II trauma center with high-volume, fast-paced surgical caseload
• May be required to work major holidays, including a minimum of 2 major holidays per contract
• May be required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
• First-time travelers are not eligible; a minimum of one recent 13-week travel assignment within the past year is required
• Returning travelers must complete a 13-week break between assignments
• Local candidates within 60 miles are not eligible for consideration
• CMP blood panel completion required prior to start
