American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with OR trauma experience for a general surgery unit position at a Level II trauma center.

Details

• Work in a hospital general surgery unit at a Level II trauma center with 2 emergency rooms
• Serves a patient population of adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Four 10-hour shifts scheduled Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 0645-1715
• No call requirements
• May be required to float to other departments up to competency level
• Uses Epic for EMR charting

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of OR experience required, including trauma experience
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• License required if applicable
• Epic EMR experience preferred; training or test-out available during orientation

Additional Information

• Supply the operating room with proper equipment and instrumentation needed for specific surgeries
• Maintain sterility of the surgical field and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Pass instruments, apply electrocautery, provide irrigation, cut suture material, and connect drains as directed
• Care for instrumentation and equipment after procedures and prepare for subsequent cases
• Assist with room turnover to support surgeons, patients, anesthesiologists, and coworkers
• Report any equipment malfunctions or breakdowns in aseptic technique
• Work in an extremely busy, fast-paced environment serving a 500-mile radius
• Facility is the region's only Level II trauma center, treating over 80,000 ER and trauma patients annually
• May be required to work major holidays, including a minimum of 2 major holidays per contract
• May be required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
• Facility may cancel shifts, in full or in part, with 48 hours notice for low census
• Candidates must live outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• First-time travelers are not considered; a minimum of one recent 13-week travel assignment within the past year is required
• Returning employees must have a 13-week break after ending a prior contract before reapplying
• Requested time off must be submitted with the application, as it will not be added to the end of the contract
