American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with ophthalmology experience for a 13-week surgical suites assignment supporting ophthalmology and ENT procedures.

Details

• Hospital-based 6th Floor Surgical Suites unit specializing in ophthalmologic, ENT, head and neck, and plastics/reconstructive procedures
• 13-week assignment with 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday
• Uses specialty equipment including surgical microscopes, endoscopic equipment, image-guided navigation systems, laser systems, powered instrumentation, and robotic platforms
• Epic charting system used for documentation

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required
• One year of surgical technologist experience preferred
• Ophthalmology experience required
• ENT experience preferred as an added asset
• CST certification required (NBSTSA or NCCT only), or must be obtained within an organizationally defined timeframe
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• License required if applicable
• Flu vaccine required with no religious or medical exemptions allowed

Additional Information

• Function under the direction of the Registered Nurse in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other healthcare professionals
• Prepare and maintain operating rooms, perform surgical scrub duties, and establish sterile fields using aseptic technique
• Organize instruments, supplies, and equipment according to procedure and surgeon preference cards
• Pass instruments, sutures, medications, implants, and supplies while maintaining sterility and efficiency
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping
• Perform and document sponge, sharps, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse
• Handle surgical specimens according to hospital standards and regulatory requirements
• Assist with equipment setup, troubleshooting, and verification of functionality prior to procedures
• Participate in Universal Protocol, patient identification, procedural verification, and surgical time-out processes
• Adhere to AORN standards, infection prevention guidelines, and Joint Commission requirements
• May assist with orientation, mentoring, and training of new staff and students
• Local candidates accepted if residing within 60 miles of Boston, with a reduced rate applying to this radius
