American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Technologist with strong cardiovascular surgery experience for a Level III Trauma Center's CVOR unit.

Details

• Work in an 8-bed CVOR unit within a Level III Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital with 938 beds
• Cardio and thoracic surgical caseload including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass
• Average of 10 cases per day in a fast-paced surgical environment
• 1:1 patient ratio with two RNs per case (Circulator and Med RN); travelers will only circulate
• 12-hour day shift schedule (0900-2130), 36 hours per week
• No floating required, though support for Cath Lab and EP Lab cases may be needed
• On-call requirements include approximately one weekend per month (Sat/Sun 0700-0700) and up to once per week end-of-shift call, with a 30-minute response time
• No sleep room available for on-call shifts
• Holiday coverage is on-call only, as needed
• Subject to a fatigue policy limiting work to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ORT/Surgical Assist experience required
• BLS certification required
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required
• CST certification preferred
• Strong CVOR background required with the ability to work independently across all specialty cases including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic surgeries, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass
• Epic EMR experience required
• License required if applicable
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Not recommended for first-time travelers

Additional Information

• Support provided by Department Supervisor, Manager, Team Lead (without case assignment), 24/7 Anesthesia availability, Surgical Assistant Lead, and 24/7 House Supervisor
• Weekend support includes a shared Supervisor across Main OR and CVOR with additional RN, tech, and FA staffing
• Equipment used includes Alaris, Pyxis, and DaVinci XI surgical systems
• 2 weeks of orientation provided
• Up to 7 days of time off can be approved, with additional requests subject to approval
• Scrubs provided by facility

• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
