American Traveler is hiring a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification and 2+ years of recent experience in both general and cardiac nuclear medicine.

Details

• Hospital-based Nuclear Medicine department within Radiology, rotating between the General Nuclear Medicine department and the Cardiac Nuclear Medicine department at the Medical Pavilion
• Provides diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine services for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients
• Typical volumes are 7-9 cardiac patients per day and 5-12 general nuclear patients per day
• Utilizes Digirad nuclear medicine imaging equipment
• Day shift schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• Department operates 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM for both General and Cardiac Nuclear Medicine services
• No routine weekend shifts, but weekend on-call coverage is required for inpatient and emergent studies
• Occasional availability to start before 8:00 AM may be needed

Requirements

• NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nuclear medicine experience required, 3-5+ years preferred
• Experience in both general nuclear medicine and cardiac nuclear medicine (stress testing/myocardial perfusion studies) required
• Associate's degree or higher from an ARRT or JRCNMT accredited institution, or graduate of a military Nuclear Medicine Program required
• Bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology or related field preferred
• BLS certification required
• Basic Dysrhythmia, Arrhythmia, or ECG course completion required
• License required if applicable
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Siemens equipment experience preferred but not required
• Previous travel healthcare experience preferred
• Comfortable working independently with minimal training and ramp-up time
• Strong patient care and communication skills required
• Proficiency operating gamma cameras and other nuclear medicine imaging equipment
• Commitment to radiation safety practices and regulatory compliance

Additional Information

• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed protocols, ensuring proper dosage and injection technique
• Operate gamma cameras and imaging equipment to capture and analyze nuclear medicine images, collaborating with radiologists and physicians on findings
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols, maintain accurate dosage records, and monitor radiation levels in work areas
• Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment and troubleshoot technical issues as needed
• Maintain detailed procedure records and generate accurate reports for patient medical records
• Strongest candidates will have experience performing myocardial perfusion studies (Cardiolite), MUGA scans, bone scans, HIDA scans, gastric emptying studies, thyroid uptake/scans, renal studies, GI bleed studies, lung perfusion studies, and therapeutic radiopharmaceutical administration
• PET/CT experience is not required, as the department does not perform PET
• Must be flexible, proactive, and able to quickly integrate into a short-staffed department with minimal ramp-up time
• Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to provide safe, high-quality patient care
