American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Technologist with two years of large OR experience and current cardiovascular experience for a hospital operating room position.

• Hospital OR Cardiovascular unit setting
• 10-hour day shifts from 0630-1700, 4 days per week
• 40 hours per week
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years current experience in a large OR setting
• Current cardiovascular surgery experience required
• HS Diploma or GED required
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program or graduation from an accredited school required (or Certified Surgical Technician credential from NBSTSA or NCCT plus 10 years of experience)
• BLS certification required through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Certified Surgical Technician (CST) credential through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery certification through NCCT preferred
• License required if applicable
• Ortho, ENT, vascular, and/or transplant experience preferred
• Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

• Provide assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures
• Perform instrument counts prior to and during procedures, maintaining accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments
• Secure and prepare all supplies and instruments required for surgical intervention
• Ensure preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the OR
• Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment and assist with patient positioning and re-positioning during surgery
• Help monitor patients during surgery and provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase
• Perform scrub functions and ensure specimens are correctly handled and routed
• Maintain current knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medications used intraoperatively
• Apply knowledge related to emergency situations and demonstrate critical thinking in anticipating patient and surgeon needs
• Follow all federal, state, and departmental safety procedures
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must wait one year before being reconsidered as a traveler
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
