Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience for a Level II Trauma Center hospital, requiring 2 years of CVOR experience in a Level 1 or 2 trauma setting.

Details

• Work in the Surgical Services department within a hospital that includes 2 ORs, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays
• Cardiovascular and thoracic patient population including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, thoracic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, fem-pop bypass, open vascular cases, AAA, and carotid procedures
• 1:1 patient ratio in the OR
• May float to the Main OR as needed
• Uses Epic charting system, along with Omnicell and Alaris equipment
• 8 or 10 hour shifts, variable schedule (to be determined during interview)
• On-call requirement of one overnight per week (7p-7a) and every 3rd weekend
• Potential to work every holiday

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience required
• Level 1 or 2 trauma center experience required
• BLS certification required
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required
• CST certification preferred (license required if applicable)
• Associate Degree in a healthcare-related field or CST certification required
• Strong CVOR background needed across all specialties, including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, cardiac organ procurement/harvesting, and fem-pop bypass
• Epic experience required

• Facility operates as a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and is a Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center
• Teaching hospital currently pursuing Magnet Status designation
• Works under a '2 Tech' model where two surgical techs are scrubbed in on every case, one as primary and one in a supporting role
• Team includes RN/First Assist, Nurse Clinician, Charge RN, Service Line Leads, HUC, Scheduler, Preference Card Analyst, and Anesthesia support
• Staff routinely float through both primary and support tech roles
• Orientation consists of 5 shifts of 8 hours each
• On-call response time is 15 minutes, with a sleep room available in the Pre-Op/PACU area and couches in the break room
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Free parking is available
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a travelers
• Time off requests require manager approval
