American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care, Level II Trauma hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Details

• Work in a cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) with 2 dedicated CVOR suites
• Acute care setting at a Level II Trauma facility
• Typical caseload of 1–3 cases per day, including open heart surgeries (CABG, valve, aneurysm), thoracotomies, VATS, Convergent, AAA, carotids, ION robotic cases, ECMO, and Impella 5.5
• Specialized equipment includes Stryker towers, ECMO, and Impella 5.5
• Charting performed in Epic (EMR experience required)
• Day shifts, 0645–1515 Monday–Friday; early 0600 start required for open heart case prep when notified the day prior
• 8-hour shifts with call responsibilities
• Weeknight call required 3–4 times per week, 1515–0645
• Weekend call required every other to every third weekend, Friday 1515 through Monday 0645
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• 15-minute call response time required; 8-hour post-call reprieve shifts apply; sleep room available on-site
• Floating to other OR specialties (ortho or general) required when CV volumes are low; travelers will cross-train to second scrub in those cases
• Floating to the floor as a 1:1 patient sitter may be required to supplement hours during low case volume periods

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience required
• Experience with open heart cases including CABG and valve procedures required
• Must be able to first scrub independently
• Willingness to cross-train to general and orthopedic OR specialties when CV volumes are low
• Willingness to float to the floor as a 1:1 patient sitter
• BLS certification required (AHA preferred)
• CST via NBSTSA or NCCT certification required; pending certifications will not be accepted
• North Dakota UAP (Unlicensed Assistive Personnel) credential required
• Active state or compact (NLC) license required if applicable; pending licenses will not be accepted
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside firms will be considered
• Orientation consists of 4–5 days of unit-based orientation plus 2 buddy call shifts, with flexibility based on recent open heart experience
• Charge Nurse is on shift for all shifts Monday–Friday 7a–11p and weekends 7a–7p
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• The CVOR team is described as having a family-oriented atmosphere
• RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• A manager interview is required as part of the selection process
