American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of acute care echo experience and ARDMS-RDS or RDCS certification for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• Work in the Noninvasive Cardiology department with 2 Echo Suites and 2 TEE rooms, as well as bedside inpatient scanning
• Support a large structural heart program serving pediatric and adult, inpatient and outpatient populations
• Average of 40-60 patients per day through the department
• Common diagnoses include CHF, pre/post Cath, pre/post CABG, pre/post Watchman, pre/post TAVR, PFOs, bubble studies, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, and stroke/ER patients
• Perform TEEs and stress tests
• Utilizes Philips and GE ultrasound equipment
• EMR is Epic; PACS system is Philips Cardiovascular/ISCV/Intellaspace
• 10-hour day shifts from 0800-1830, 40 hours per week
• No weekend rotation required at this time
• On-call requirement of 1 night call shift per week (end of shift until 0700 the following morning) with a 30-minute response time
• No floating required

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of acute care echo experience
• BLS and ARDMS-RDS or RDCS certification required
• Active license required if applicable
• Must be comfortable performing pediatric scans
• Experience assisting with pericardiocentesis and other procedures, and measuring accurate EFs
• Fetal scan and stress test experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in the specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Will provide preliminary findings and enter them into a modifiable report for physician review, confirmation, or amendment
• Preference given to candidates comfortable orienting new hires
• Supported by other echo techs, a manager/supervisor during the days, central transport, cardiologists, and the rapid response/code team
• Orientation includes NEO followed by unit orientation for the remainder of the first week, including buddy call
• Modified self-scheduling with manager final approval; schedules built in 6-week increments
• Can approve up to 7 days of RTO
• Call required only on major holidays; department remains open on holiday eves; may be on call for up to 50% of holidays per contract
• Black scrub color required

• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
