American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 2 years of experience and Level I trauma center background for a 13-week OR assignment at an academic, Magnet-designated hospital in Charleston, SC.

Details

• Work in a large, 21-suite Main OR within a Level I trauma center, academic teaching, and Magnet-designated hospital setting
• Surgical specialties covered include Ortho (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro (craniotomy, spine), ENT (flaps), Robotics, Transplants/Procurements, Trauma/Burns, and GU/GYN
• Candidates should be prepared to staff the full variety of cases supported by the Main OR
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) working Saturday, Sunday, and one weekday
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities may be required
• No on-call requirement
• Radiation badge required and must be provided by the staffing agency
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of OR surgical tech experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• NBSTSA CST certification required — NCCT certification is not accepted for this position
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Experience with Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) cases highly preferred
• SC license required if applicable
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• The OR team is composed of approximately 75% RNs (trained to both scrub and circulate) and 25% CSTs, creating a nurse-driven, collaborative environment
• Online orientation modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Candidates located within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, though local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
