American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of OR experience, including open heart and cardiovascular cases, for a travel assignment at a Level II trauma hospital in Florida.

Details

• Work in a large 895-bed, Level II trauma facility with 37 OR suites averaging 85–95 cases per day
• CVOR unit specializing in open heart cases including TAVR, open heart, thoracic/chest, and dissection cases — 4 open heart rooms staffed with 3 active and 1 flip room
• Additional specialties covered include general surgery, robotics, orthopedics, total joints, and ophthalmology
• 1:1 patient ratio in the OR; adult patient population ages 18–100+
• Shift hours are 9a–7p; floating between the Cath lab and EP lab may be required as needed
• Call is required with a 30-minute response time; expected average of 115–140 call hours per 4-week block, including possible 8- or 12-hour overnight or weekend call shifts
• Holiday coverage is required
• GE Clinical Documentation system used; Pyxis medication system on unit
• HUC and clinical technicians support the unit; respiratory and anesthesia available 24/7

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care OR experience, with at least 2 years of specialty experience within the last 2 years
• Prior travel experience required — minimum of 2 completed travel assignments in the past 12 months in an acute care setting
• Experience in a similarly sized facility required
• BLS certification required
• National certification required (e.g., CST/NCCT)
• Current EMR experience required
• Active state license required if applicable
• Two clinical references required from the last two places of employment, including a Nurse Manager or Director; references must cover the last year and include facility name, specialty, dates, supervisor name, bed count, trauma level, and travel/staff status
• 7-year employment history required, with explanations for any gaps over 30 days
• Current skills checklist required (valid within one year)

Additional Information

• Scrub and/or circulate across a broad range of surgical specialties as needed
• CSTs wear Caribbean Blue scrubs, provided by the facility and home laundered
• Closed-toe shoes required; no artificial nails or nail polish permitted
• One-week orientation runs Monday–Friday, 7:00a–3:30p, progressing from safety training and SPD orientation to preceptored and independent practice
• Unit-based specialty testing required
• Ideal candidate is a hard worker, flexible, and willing to support staff across all specialties
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel assignment
