American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Technologist / Sonographer with at least 1 year of experience in general ultrasound, including abdominal Doppler and transplant patient imaging, for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I trauma teaching hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Details

• Work in the Ultrasound department of a large, short-term acute care Level I trauma teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
• Assigned to the North campus, which has 7 ultrasound rooms, 2 of which are dedicated to procedures
• Adult and geriatric patient population with a high volume of transplant patients
• Performs general ultrasound examinations including abdominal, renal/pelvis, small parts, and superficial studies; does not include OB, vascular, or breast (those are handled by separate specialty departments)
• Procedure-focused rooms handle FNA, lymph node biopsies, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
• 5x8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No call, no holidays
• May float within clinical scope to meet facility needs
• GE ultrasound machines; Epic EHR system

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
• Current BLS certification required
• RDMS-AB (ARDMS) certification required
• RDMS-OB and RVT certifications preferred
• Inpatient and outpatient experience required
• Teaching hospital or community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with portable ultrasound required
• Proficiency with general, abdominal, renal/pelvis, small parts, paracentesis, and thoracentesis ultrasound procedures required
• Renal artery duplex experience required
• Extensive knowledge of abdominal Doppler, including transplant kidneys and livers, required
• Experience with PACS and biopsies preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Valid Missouri state license required for consideration (Illinois candidates may be considered with a pending IL license)
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrub colors are solid black, solid red, or solid white
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Allied travelers may remain on assignment for up to 12 months, after which a 6-month break in service is required
