American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with 2+ years of OR experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties for a travel position at a hospital operating room in Carlsbad, NM.

Details

• Hospital OR setting with 6 operating rooms and a facility size of 99 beds
• Monthly department volume of approximately 250–300 surgical procedures
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, four 10-hour shifts per week
• Call is required: minimum one weekday per week, plus weekend rotation; on-call hours are Monday–Friday 1530–0700 and Saturday–Sunday 0700–0700
• Surgical specialties include general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, urology, plastics, endoscopy, trauma, and robotic surgery (da Vinci)
• Adult and pediatric patient populations
• EMR systems: MedHost (inpatient) and PICIS (OR)
• Hospital scrubs are provided

Requirements

• CST certification through the NBSTSA required
• Minimum 2 years of recent surgical technologist experience required
• Experience across multiple specialties required, including general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, urology, plastics, endoscopy, trauma, and robotic (da Vinci) surgery
• Adult and pediatric surgical experience required
• BLS certification required
• No certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• License required if applicable
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Prepare the operating room including the sterile field, surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions prior to procedures
• Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during procedures
• Manage the sterile field and surgical specimens simultaneously during cases
• Perform sponge and supply counts to prevent retained foreign objects
• Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico
• RTO requests must be for less than one week in duration
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any CHS facility within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
