American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with OR scrub experience for a Birth Center position at a hospital in Tacoma, WA, supporting OB surgical cases including C-sections and high-risk deliveries.

Details

• Work in a 37-bed hospital Birth Center unit
• Patient population includes OB, C-sections, postpartum, D&C, high-risk, and total hysterectomy (rare) cases
• 1:1 patient ratio following AWHONN standards
• Primary responsibility is scrubbing and preparedness of the OR for cases
• When not in the OR, duties include stocking supplies, setting up and breaking down delivery tables, and transporting patients to/from ultrasound or the ED
• EMR: Epic (Flow Sheets, charting by exception)
• Equipment includes Alaris Carefusion IV pumps, Alaris PCA, Covidien SCD, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, GE Cormetrics monitors, Panda Warmers, Nitrous, and ANM Healthcare Interpretive System
• 12-hour day shifts, 0700–1930 or 1900–0730
• Weekend rotation required no more than every other weekend
• No on-call requirement; additional shifts may be picked up as available
• Schedule is made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to the start of the schedule period; a block schedule cannot be guaranteed

Requirements

• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) credential required
• WA state license required if applicable
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of OR and OR scrub experience
• Ability to set up and break down surgical and vaginal delivery suites
• Proficiency in sterile technique and management of surgical equipment
• Ability to assist physicians in C-sections and emergent situations
• Skills in wound dressing and quantification of blood loss (QBL)
• One supervisor-level reference required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start

• Orientation consists of 1 day of new employee orientation (NEO) followed by 2 days of orientation with LPN scrub staff
• Hospital provides scrub attire
• Parking is available via badge-access covered garage, outdoor parking, or street parking in approved areas
• RTO requests must be approved through the unit manager
