American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of surgical experience for a multi-site ambulatory surgery center position requiring Epic proficiency and on-call availability.

Details

• Work primarily across two ambulatory surgery center sites, with occasional work at a third location; weekly schedule provided in advance indicating assigned site
• Trauma Level III facility environment with 3 ORs
• Patient population includes inpatient, outpatient, and ER cases across general, GYN, ENT, urology, orthopedic, podiatry, and vascular specialties
• Pediatric cases are performed approximately once per week (5–10% of caseload), primarily in conjunction with ENT
• 8-hour day shift, 0645–1515
• 40 hours per week
• On-call required every 6th weekend (Friday afternoon through Monday morning) and one night per week; 30-minute response time required
• Holiday coverage required for one summer and one winter holiday
• Epic EMR experience required; also uses Pyxis and Alaris
• Float required to two additional sites on a rotating weekly basis

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of surgical technology experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• CST certification required
• BLS certification required
• Active license required, if applicable
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Strong knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques and various types of surgical equipment
• Pediatric surgical experience preferred
• 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year required for consideration

• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
• Unit support includes a non-assignment charge nurse, on-call surgeon and anesthesia after cases, a surgery scheduler, and an OR aide serving as secretary
• Orientation is 1–3 shifts based on individual comfort level
• Procedural scrubs are provided
• Time-off requests are handled through the unit manager
