American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with 2+ years of OR specialty experience for a hospital Main OR and CVOR position covering a high-acuity, multi-specialty surgical caseload.

Details

• Hospital setting with 13 ORs plus 1 Procedure/Cysto room, averaging 45 cases per day
• No trauma designation and not a teaching hospital, with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center recognition
• Main OR caseload spans orthopedic, spine, general, colon, breast, podiatry, urology, robotic, GYN, and plastics procedures
• CVOR caseload includes cardiothoracic (CABG, AVR, MVR, mini mitral, septal myomectomy), vascular (fistula creations, TCAR, carotid/femoral endarterectomy, bypasses), and thoracic (VATS, robotic resections, lobectomies, pericardial windows)
• 12-hour day shifts, 0700-1900, scheduled for 36 hours per week
• On-call rotation includes 3-4 weeknight calls (12hr, 7p-7a) and 1-2 weekend shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) per 6-week schedule
• No standard weekend rotation outside of call requirements
• Holiday coverage is fulfilled through the call rotation
• No floating required
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Department supported by 6 OR assistants, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, and 24/7 anesthesia/CRNA coverage
• Orientation is 1 week for Main OR and 2 weeks for CVOR, structured as five 8-hour shifts

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of OR specialty experience required
• Most recent experience should be within the last year
• BLS certification required
• Must have completed an accredited Surgical Technologist education program prior to start
• National certification preferred
• CVOR experience must include strong, recent exposure to CABG, TAVR, vascular, and thoracic cases
• Experience scrubbing orthopedic, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, urology, robotic, GYN, colon, breast, spine, podiatry, and plastic surgery cases
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• License required if applicable
• 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Scrubs are provided and parking is free
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
• Clinical interview required as part of the hiring process
• Support surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties within a high-volume, multi-room OR environment
• Collaborate with a dedicated support team including OR assistants, charge nurses, and anesthesia staff
