American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of Spine and Ortho experience for a hospital OR position in Temple, TX.

Details

• Hospital operating room (OR) setting specializing in Spine and Orthopedic surgical procedures
• Schedule is three 12-hour shifts per week, Wednesday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience in Spine and Orthopedic procedures
• CST certification required
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Active TX license required if applicable
• Flu vaccination is mandatory with no exemptions
• 2 professional references required for consideration
• Date of birth and SSN required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Discuss special surgical needs with the surgeon prior to procedures and ensure timely preparation of instruments
• Prepare and maintain sterile instrument tables in an organized manner and perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and miscellaneous items
• Anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout the course of surgery, including passing sterile supplies and holding retractors
• Assist with patient draping, positioning, and application of surgical dressings post-procedure
• Receive and handle surgical specimens per protocol, verifying source before passing to the circulating nurse
• Disassemble and prepare soiled instrumentation for decontamination, and properly dispose of sharps, fluids, and waste
• Ensure cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Clean the OR following each case and return equipment to appropriate storage areas
• Adhere to infection control policies, AORN perioperative guidelines, and OSHA regulations
