American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with cardiovascular OR experience for a hospital CVOR unit position requiring AHA BLS certification and an active SC or compact license.

Details

• Hospital-based Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting
• Day shift hours from 0630–1500, working 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week, 40 hours per week
• Schedule includes 2 weekday call shifts and every 3rd–4th weekend call
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Travelers may be required to float to a nearby sister hospital
• 12-week contract

Requirements

• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
• Active SC or compact license required if applicable
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• High school diploma or GED plus completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist educational program, or equivalent training through a U.S. Military Surgical Technology program
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, crouch, and stoop frequently
• Ability to lift, move, or carry up to 50 lbs intermittently and push or pull up to 50 lbs frequently
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Assists in planning and implementing patient care in collaboration with the registered nurse and other health team members
• Creates and maintains aseptic technique and performs scrubbing duties throughout surgical procedures
• Accounts for all equipment and supplies used during surgical cases and is responsible for their proper use and care
• Communicates patient information to appropriate team members and maintains adaptability in a fast-paced surgical environment
• May serve as a clinical preceptor for scrubbing duties, following orientation guidelines in collaboration with the patient care coordinator and educator
• Maintains cleanliness of the unit and cleans and maintains all surgical equipment
• Holiday and weekend coverage may be required based on departmental needs
• Travelers who have previously been on assignment at this facility may return after a mandatory 30–60 day break, once they have reached one calendar year of continuous assignment
• Participation in performance improvement activities is expected
