American Traveler is seeking a CVOR Surgical Tech with at least 2 years of OR specialty experience for a 13-week hospital operating room contract in Charlotte, NC.

Details

• Work in a 337-bed hospital OR department with 13 ORs plus one procedure/cysto room
• CVOR cases include cardiothoracic (CABG, AVR, MVR, mini mitral, septal myomectomy), vascular (fistula creations, TCAR, carotid and femoral endarterectomy, bypasses, hybrid cases, dissections), and thoracic (VATS, robotic resections, lobectomies, pericardial windows)
• Main OR cases span orthopedic, spine, general, colorectal, breast, podiatry, urology, robotic, GYN, and plastics
• Department averages 45 cases per day
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
• On-call requirements include 4–5 weeknight calls per 6-week schedule (as early as 5:00 PM–7:00 AM) and 1–2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday evening through Monday)
• Holidays are covered on a call rotation basis, which travelers are included in
• No floating requirements
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of OR experience in a CVOR specialty
• Strong and recent experience scrubbing CABG, TAVR, vascular, and thoracic cases required
• Experience scrubbing across multiple specialties preferred, including orthopedic, general, urology, robotic, GYN, colorectal, breast, spine, podiatry, and plastics
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program required prior to start
• BLS certification required
• National certification (CST or equivalent) preferred
• Active license required if applicable
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's permanent address must be 50+ miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

• OR orientation for the Main OR is 1 week; CVOR orientation is 2 weeks, structured as five 8-hour shifts
• Candidates with scheduling conflicts during orientation should be prepared to discuss accommodations with management
• Department support includes OR assistants (6 on weekdays), a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, and anesthesia/CRNA available 24/7
• OR assistants support room turnovers, stocking, patient positioning, and operation of surgical tables
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
• A clinical interview conducted by the manager is required
