American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab / IR Rad Tech with a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab or IR experience to join the Interventional Platform team at a Level II Trauma, Magnet-designated hospital in Elgin, IL.

Details

• 5-room interventional platform including 2 Cath Labs, 1 EP Room, 1 Hybrid Room, and 1 IR Room at a Level II Trauma Center with Magnet designation and Primary Stroke Center status
• Adult inpatient and outpatient population; intra-procedural care only — no pre/post procedure experience required or performed by staff
• Cath Lab procedures include diagnostic and interventional heart caths, right heart cath, Impella, balloon pump, thrombectomies (Angiojet/Penumbra), STEMI/MI, CTOs, and PFO closure
• EP procedures include temporary and permanent pacemakers, ablations, and MitraClip
• Hybrid procedures include AAA repair, Watchman, TAVR, and carotid interventions
• IR procedures include peripheral diagnostic and interventional, thrombolysis (EKOS), chest tubes, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, paracentesis/thoracentesis, CT/RFA ablations, G-tube placement and exchanges, PICC placement, tunneled catheter placements, nephrostomy tubes, dialysis grafts, and drain placements
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Charting systems include Epic, Merge Hemodynamics, and GE Cardio (EP) on Siemens equipment
• 8-hour day shifts, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• On-call begins at 4:30 PM – 8:00 AM on weekdays; weekend call runs Friday 4:00 PM through Monday 8:00 AM
• Approximately 10–11 call shifts per month, including 2 weekends per month (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• 30-minute call response time required; no sleep rooms available
• May float to Cath Lab or IR depending on the modality of the posted position and candidate skillset

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience or 2 years of IR experience depending on modality; most recent experience must be within the last year
• RN certifications required: BLS, ACLS
• RT certifications required: ARRT, BLS, ACLS, and IEMA (Illinois license); license required if applicable
• RN skills required: circulating, sedation, cardiac rhythm interpretation, Impella, and balloon pump
• RT skills required: simultaneous scrubbing and panning, Impella, balloon pump, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Cross-training to both Cath Lab and IR modalities preferred; Hybrid, EP, and IR experience preferred but not required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN collected within the last year
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

• Charge Nurse is present on the unit and may assist with assignments or breaks but typically does not take a full patient assignment
• Support staff includes RT (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Cardiologist (on-call at night); RRT/Code Team responds to codes in the lab
• 12 hours of facility and unit orientation provided
• Holiday coverage is call-based; 1–2 holiday call shifts expected per contract
• Procedural scrubs provided; free parking available on site
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for this travel position
• COVID vaccination required by the facility
