American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a smaller acute care hospital in Americus, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D specialty experience and at least 1 prior travel contract.

Details

• Work in an LDRP unit and Level 2 NICU at a 54-bed acute care hospital in Americus, GA
• Unit includes 10 LDRP beds, 4 triage beds, 1 C-section suite on unit, with occasional use of the OR
• Patient population includes mothers 32 weeks gestation or greater, antepartum patients (e.g., mag therapy, hyperemesis), and stable patients without major maternal risk factors; higher-risk patients such as those with CHF are typically transferred out
• Volume averages approximately 30–60 births per month
• Staffing ratios follow ACOG guidelines
• Fetal heart monitoring system is currently WatchChild (transitioning to WatchChild or OBIX)
• EMR is MEDITECH
• 12-hour night shifts, with shift start at 6:45 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Travelers do not take call
• Holiday rotation with permanent staff
• May float to the NICU if experienced

Requirements

• Active RN license in Georgia (GA) or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of L&D specialty experience required
• At least 1 prior travel nursing contract required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (EFM) or above
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections (scrubbing is performed by OR techs)
• Candidate's driver's license address must be at least 100 miles from the facility
• Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• 17-week contract
• Orientation averages 6 shifts, depending on familiarity with charting systems
• Scrub colors are forest green pants and white tops (or white pants); scrubs are not provided by the facility — travelers are expected to supply their own and will change into hospital-provided scrubs for C-section procedures
• Support staff includes 2 LPNs and 2 OR techs who assist with C-sections, secretarial duties, and discharges; RT and charge nurses are available on unit
• OB physician is in-house only when a patient is in active labor; anesthesia is in-house only for VBAC cases; pharmacy is not on-site 24/7 but accessible via on-call pharmacist
• Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
