American Traveler seeks an NBSTSA-certified Surgical Technologist with cardiovascular experience for a 13-week hospital CVOR unit assignment.

Details

• Hospital CVOR unit averaging 6 cases per day
• Cardiovascular patient population requiring open heart and vascular surgeries
• Day shift hours, 06:00–14:30
• Weekday schedule with weekend call requirements

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of surgical technology experience
• Hospital CVOR experience required, with confidence performing open heart and vascular cases
• NBSTSA certification required — this is the only surgical tech certification recognized in South Carolina
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Work under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures
• Ensure OR rooms, supplies, and equipment are available and properly prepared to support efficient perioperative processes
• Maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment necessary for each surgical procedure with working knowledge of each device
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping, and establish the sterile field according to department and hospital standards
• Perform initial and additional instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during the time-out procedure
• Prepare and pass off specimens as appropriate
• Assist with lifting, turning, and positioning patients using proper body mechanics
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and assist with terminal cleaning of the OR
• Use standard precautions and appropriate PPE when handling hazardous substances, including blood and body fluids
• Must be flexible, punctual, and willing to learn within the surgical environment
