Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with a strong orthopedic background and prior travel experience for a 13-week OR assignment at a Critical Access Hospital.

Details

• Work in a 4-suite OR plus 1 endoscopy suite within a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting
• Common case types include orthopedic (total joints, sports med, hands, and trauma), general, GYN, C-sections, and endoscopy
• Averages 8 cases per day
• Charting performed in Epic
• Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts, typically 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with possible adjustments
• Weeknight call begins at 3:00 PM, typically 1 night per week or 4 weeknights per month, with potential increases based on staffing
• Weekend call is typically 1 full weekend per month (Friday through Sunday)
• Holiday call may be assigned if a holiday falls within the contract period
• When on call, candidates must remain within 30 minutes of the facility at all times
• CSTs are required to float to cover endoscopy and assist with SPD and HLD duties including cleaning and washing during call

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of surgical tech experience with a strong orthopedic background
• Previous travel experience required
• Certification as a CST through NCCT or NBSTSA required
• BLS certification required
• Some SPD and HLD experience required
• Epic EMR experience
• License required if applicable — must be active at time of consideration; pending licensure will not be accepted
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• CSTs are paired with a preceptor for unit-specific orientation; unit norms and system values are covered during this time
• All OR personnel are expected to assist with cleaning and turning over ORs alongside the orderly team
• TDOC is used for instrument tracking; ProVation is used by providers for endoscopy documentation
• Blue scrubs are required; scrubs are provided per the surgical services attire policy
• A charge nurse and assistant nurse manager (ANM) are present on each shift
• No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
• Former permanent employees of the facility must have been separated for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
