American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Tech First Assist (SFA) with cardiovascular OR experience for a 13-week travel assignment in a Level II Trauma acute care hospital CVOR unit.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a Level II Trauma designation
• Assignment in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Certified Surgical Assistant unit
• Candidates will rotate between the main hospital surgery center (12 ORs) and an outpatient surgery center across the street (6 ORs)
• Cardiovascular procedures include CABG, angiograms, carotid and femoral endarterectomies, aortic root repairs, valve replacements, and AAA repairs
• Additional procedures include General, Ortho, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, Plastics, Neuro, and Robotic surgery
• Fast-paced unit performing approximately 40–60 procedures per day across all surgical specialties
• 1:1 surgical assistant-to-patient ratio
• Day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with 8-hour shifts
• Weekly call shift required (3:30 PM – 7:00 AM the following day), plus one weekend call shift every 4 weeks
• Charting via Epic EMR

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of surgical first assist experience required
• Cardiovascular surgical procedure experience required; General surgery experience also required
• Must hold one of the following credentials: RNFA, CSTFA, or CFA
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• One or more of the following certifications required: CSA via NCCSA, CSFA via NBSTSA, or CST via NBSTSA
• UAP certification required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Proficiency with Covidien cauteries and Stryker laparoscopic towers beneficial
• License required if applicable
• Two current professional references required for consideration — one must be from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years in a relevant specialty

• Orientation is one week, with the candidate working closely alongside a preceptor throughout
• Surgical preference cards are detailed and kept current to support efficient case preparation
• Team consists of a mix of Registered Nurse First Assists (RNFAs) and Surgical Technologist First Assists
• Surgeons are noted to be collaborative and easy to work with
• Scrubs are provided in Ceil Blue
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their submission date
• This location does not accept candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility
