American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with pediatric OR experience for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in Tacoma, WA.

Details

• Hospital-based pediatric operating room at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with a Level IV NICU
• Patient population ranges from neonates to 18 years, including adult-sized patients, infants, developmentally delayed patients, and those with congenital anomalies
• Case types include pediatric trauma (MVAs, GSWs, shaken baby), neurosurgery (craniotomies, EVDs, shunts), spine (scoliosis repairs, spinal injuries), urology, GYN, orthopedics, oncology, ENT, general/GI surgeries, dental (preferred), ophthalmology (preferred), and robotics with DaVinci XI (preferred)
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation is uncommon but possible if weekend staff are unavailable; typically weekends involve call only
• On-call requirement of approximately 2 weeknights (1900–0700) and 1 weekend (Friday 1900 – Monday 0700) every 6 weeks, with a 30-minute response time
• Floating may be required to the PICU or to NICU cases at an adjacent connected facility on the same campus
• Scrubs are provided; free parking is available on-site

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of acute OR experience required; candidates with exactly 2 years must demonstrate high-level experience
• WA state CST license required if applicable
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) credential required
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency scrubbing the case types listed, including pediatric trauma, neuro, spine, urology, GYN, ortho, oncology, ENT, and general/GI
• Robotics, high-level neuro, ophthalmology, and dental experience highly preferred; candidates lacking these skills require manager approval
• Willingness to accept combined adult and pediatric OR experience considered
• At least one supervisor-level reference required for consideration; a second reference will be required prior to start

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are generally not considered unless the candidate has 5 or more years of extensive OR and pediatric experience
• Candidates will scrub a wide variety of pediatric surgical cases spanning multiple specialties
• The facility conducts a clinical interview via SimpliFi followed by a unit-level final review
• License verification can be submitted with a pending license, provided proof of application is included
