American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of OR experience for a community hospital General OR position with a varied surgical caseload spanning multiple specialties.

Details

• Community hospital General OR setting with a broad, multi-specialty surgical caseload
• Specialties include gynecology, plastics, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, thoracic, neuro, podiatry, oral/maxillofacial, and trauma
• Robotics experience utilized; facility uses the Da Vinci Si Surgical System
• Endoscopic and sterile processing responsibilities are part of the role
• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with a rotating schedule of one week at 3x12 hours and the following week at 4x12 hours (84 hours per two-week period)
• Must be willing and able to accept the 84-hour biweekly scheduling requirement — travelers who cannot commit to this schedule will not be considered
• Holiday coverage required; must work either a major or minor holiday each contract period

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Tech/OR experience required
• Active Compact or state-specific license in hand required at time of consideration — no exceptions; license required if applicable
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Full legal name including middle name (or confirmation of no middle name) required
• Copy of unexpired driver's license required; address must match permanent address
• Copies of all certifications required for consideration
• 2 professional references required — at least 1 charge nurse or higher, and 1 supervisor; both must be from within the last year
• Any license hits or background check issues must be disclosed upfront
• First-time travelers will be considered

Additional Information

• Proficiency across a wide range of surgical procedures is expected, including laparoscopic, robotic, orthopedic, and endoscopic cases
• Sterile processing duties include instrument assembly/wrapping, scope reprocessing, decontamination, sterilization, and set/tray preparation
• Strong command of aseptic technique, universal protocol/time-out procedures, laser and radiation safety, and sharps safety is expected
• Responsible for specimen handling and labeling, instrument processing, and proper use of PPE and isolation precautions
• Equipment experience should include electrosurgical units, fiber optic systems, drills, cell saver, crash cart, and high-level disinfectants
• RTO of up to 7 days may be considered; RTO must be declared upfront and no changes will be accepted after submission
• Travelers who have worked within the health system for one year must take a minimum 6-month break before being eligible to return
• Travel pairs are accepted on a limited basis; paired travelers will not be placed on the same shift or unit
• Candidates may only be considered for one position at a time within this health system
