American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, BLS and OCN certifications, and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in a 19-bed Medical Surgical Oncology unit with an average daily census of 15 patients
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with oncology and hematology diagnoses
• Case types include oncologic emergencies, DNR/comfort care, chemo precautions, and end-of-life care
• Specialized equipment includes CADD pumps, PCA pumps, morphine drips, and Dilaudid drips
• Patient ratio is 1:6
• EMR system is Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the facility and possibly to a sister campus approximately 3 miles away
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and OCN certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Oncology and hematology nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted
• RTO is capped at 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• No RTO requests are permitted during Spring Break (April 6–12)
• Holiday coverage policy: travelers expected to work all major holidays occurring during their assignment if one or two fall within the contract period; if three occur, travelers must work two and may request one holiday off
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/Day (counted as one)
• No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted; the posted night shift is firm
• Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• 13-week contract (14-week assignment length)
