American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) position at a Level II Trauma Center in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience and an active NV RN license.

Details

• 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a large 800-bed, Level II Trauma Center hospital in Reno, NV
• Patient population includes general medical cases such as post-ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory conditions
• Patients require moderately complex assessments, moderately intensive therapies, and moderate levels of nursing vigilance
• Shift schedule: 3x12 nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Floating to other units may be required up to the traveler's competency level
• No on-call requirements
• Schedule may include weekends and holidays
• Epic EMR used for charting; training provided during orientation or candidates may test out
• Kronos used for timekeeping

Requirements

• Active NV RN license required prior to start date (RNs who have never held a NV temp or perm license may apply and must begin the application process upon offer)
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management required
• Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Must pass an ECG/Telemetry exam (rhythm strip reading and interpretation) — failure results in contract termination
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing the nursing process across an entire episode of care

• Fast-paced, high-volume environment comparable in pace and acuity to a Level I Trauma Center, serving a 500-mile radius
• Must be available to work a minimum of 2 of the 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
• Travelers are required to pick up one additional shift per 4-week schedule period
• Blocked scheduling is not allowed
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of submission, as it will not be added to the end of the contract
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must take a 13-week break after their contract ends before returning, regardless of total time worked
