American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit position requiring Step-Down or PCU experience, Epic proficiency, and ventilator experience.

Details

• 36-bed Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory unit operating as a mixed-acuity (Med-Surg/Intermediate Care) setting
• Patient population includes cerebrovascular accident (CVA), transient ischemic attack (TIA), seizures, and general neuro, as well as high-risk respiratory patients
• Targeted patient ratios are 1:4–6; prior 1:5 ratio experience in a Step-Down or PCU setting is required
• Unit utilizes a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner together to care for groups of patients, with nurses potentially functioning in either team or primary nursing depending on unit needs
• Specialized equipment includes heated high-flow oxygen and BiPAP
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Travelers are first to float at the health system's discretion, within medically appropriate specialty clusters including high-risk respiratory and COVID units
• Floating may include the main campus (Dayton), south campus (Centerville, less than 10 miles away), and north campus (Englewood, less than 15 miles away)

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• IV start certification preferred
• Step-Down (SD) or PCU experience required; ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility
• Documented 1:5 ratio experience in a Step-Down or PCU setting must be reflected in work history
• Ventilator experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Nurses may be assigned to staff the high-risk respiratory/COVID beds and may float to the Neuro ICU, where they are assigned appropriate patients and a buddy
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Any RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration; no RTO will be added after an offer is made, and approval is at the manager's discretion
• 13-week contract (approximately)
