American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of experience and Level I trauma background for a 13-week OR position at a Magnet-designated academic medical center in Charleston, SC.

Details

• Hospital-based Main OR within a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated, academic teaching facility with 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties
• Common cases include Ortho (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro (craniotomy, spine), ENT (flaps), Robotics, Transplants/Procurements, Trauma/Burns, and GU/GYN
• Candidates may be expected to staff the full variety of cases supported by the Main OR
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM, with holiday rotation
• One weekend shift (6:30 AM–7:00 PM, Saturday or Sunday) required per month
• Up to 4 on-call shifts (end of shift to 7:00 AM) required per month
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities may be required

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of CST experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• NBSTSA certification required; NCCT certification is not accepted
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• A radiation badge is required for this position
• SC license required if applicable
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) experience highly preferred

Additional Information

• The Main OR nursing team consists of approximately 75% RNs and 25% CSTs; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate
• The department is described as a busy, dynamic, nurse-driven environment utilizing cutting-edge technology
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any facility in the health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; approval is based on facility needs
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, though local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• Parking is available nearby for a one-time $20 registration fee for a hang tag; additional fees may apply if parking outside of the designated garage
