American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center in South Carolina, requiring at least 2 years of PICU experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

• 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) providing intensive and intermediate care to pediatric patients ages 0–18
• Mixed unit serving both ICU and stepdown patients with a blend of medical and surgical diagnoses, including respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative surgical, and neurology/neurosurgery cases
• Patient ratios vary: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on patient acuity
• Unit provides ECMO, CRRT, renal and peritoneal dialysis, ventilatory and cardiac support, and complex supportive therapies; pediatric palliative care available as needed
• Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital
• Charting via Epic
• Schedule is 3x12-hour shifts on a rotating day/night schedule, with shifts alternating 50/50 days and nights in 4-week block rotations (7:00–19:30 / 19:00–7:30)
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduling period
• Holiday coverage required if the contract period includes a holiday
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed before starting
• Current AHA-issued BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA certifications only accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• ECMO and CRRT experience are preferred
• Staffing team includes RNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, with support from Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
• Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on unit needs
• Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
