American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

• 28-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit providing both intensive and intermediate care to pediatric patients ages 0–18
• Mixed ICU and stepdown unit serving patients with medical and surgical diagnoses, including respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative care, and neurology/neurosurgery
• Patient ratios vary: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on patient acuity
• ECMO, CRRT, renal and peritoneal dialysis, and other complex supportive therapies are performed on the unit
• Pediatric Palliative Care services are available as needed
• Rotating shift schedule — 50/50 days and nights in 4-week block rotations (7:00–19:30 / 19:00–7:30)
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required if the contract period includes a holiday
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Charting via Epic

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license — candidates with a pending SC license may be considered, but must be fully licensed before starting
• Current AHA-issued BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA only — no other providers accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Experience with ECMO and CRRT preferred
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a direct supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
• Staffing team includes RNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, with Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists available as needed
• Online modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are given priority
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on unit needs
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
