Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of experience, prior travel nursing experience, and availability for PM shifts every other weekend and holiday.

Details

• Work in a 24-bed Med/Surg unit (4 North) in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes CHF, acute and chronic renal failure, COPD, seizure disorders, sepsis, and related conditions
• Proficiency with non-titrating cardiac drips and titrating heparin drips required
• Experience with lines and devices including Foleys, PIVs, PICCs, Medi-ports, JP drains, wound vacs, chest tubes, and PCA pumps
• Oxygen delivery methods include nasal cannula, Salter mask, and high-flow oxygen
• 12-hour PM shifts, working every other weekend and every other holiday
• Support staff includes unit secretaries, PCTs, phlebotomists, and transporters available as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license — VA state license or valid compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• Proof of address and 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Nursys license verification required for consideration

Additional Information

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and maintain individualized nursing care plans
• Administer medications safely and coordinate care across hospital departments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to establish and meet patient discharge and continuing care goals
• EKG/dysrhythmia exam administered on the first day of orientation — two attempts allowed to pass, and study guides will be provided
