American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a Level I Trauma OR position requiring transplant, trauma, and neuro experience in a high-acuity academic medical center setting.

Details

• Hospital-based operating room unit with 10 ORs focused on inpatient Level I Trauma Surgery
• Surgical specialties include bariatric, neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic trauma, spine, major plastic reconstruction, robotic surgery, and kidney and liver transplants
• Primary shift is 10-hour days, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, with rotating evening shifts
• Up to 2 weekends per month required, either on-call (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM) or working scheduled shifts on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
• Short call shifts required once per week, either 3:00 AM–7:00 AM or 5:00 PM–9:00 PM, with a 30-minute response time for call
• Floating within the West Main campus is possible
• Holiday coverage is expected throughout the duration of the contract
• All time-off requests must be submitted and approved in advance

Requirements

• Extensive scrub experience required across multiple specialties: general surgery, robotics, kidney transplants, orthopedics, neuro/spine, ENT (head and neck), GYN, and urology
• Transplant experience (kidney required; liver transplant strongly preferred), trauma OR experience, and neuro experience are all required
• MA Surgical Technologist license required if applicable
• BLS certification required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• COVID vaccine and booster required (medical exemptions accepted)
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions accepted)

Additional Information

• Scrub responsibilities span a broad range of complex surgical procedures in a high-volume Level I Trauma OR environment
• Orientation is held weekly, every Monday (excluding holidays)
• A manager interview is required as part of the hiring process; available interview dates and times should be provided at the time of consideration
• Candidates who have previously worked at any Beth Israel Lahey Health facility in any capacity (travel, permanent, or per diem) must have a minimum 6-month break before being considered
• Parking in the Boston area can cost up to $43/day — candidates are encouraged to plan accordingly
• First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but the breadth of required specialty experience suggests seasoned candidates are preferred
