American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant (RN) with cardiac, vascular, and thoracic experience and a required CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certification for a 15-week day shift contract.

Details

• CVOR unit within a hospital setting
• Cardiovascular, vascular, endovascular, and thoracic surgical cases
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Weekends required only during call rotation
• On-call required approximately 1 day per week and 1 weekend every 4 weeks, subject to change based on departmental needs
• Floating within scope of practice and to the main OR as needed

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certification required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required
• Experience in cardiac, vascular, endovascular, and thoracic surgery required
• Copies of all certifications listed must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred

Additional Information

• This position requires a privileging process prior to start, with an approximate timeline of 120 days (3 months) from the time of contract signature — plan accordingly when considering availability
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• No schedule change requests are accepted — the posted day shift is firm
• No alternate shift or scheduling requests will be accommodated
• Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Holiday RTO policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work at least 2, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
• Full compliance is required prior to the start date; non-compliance may result in a start date delay due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule
