American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a 13-week travel assignment at an academic medical center in Ohio, requiring at least 3 years of OR experience with a minimum of 2 years in cardiac and vascular surgery.

• CVOR position within a large academic teaching hospital and heart hospital
• Evening shift: 5x8 hours (2:30 PM–11:00 PM) or a combination of 2x8 and 2x12 shifts (10:30 PM–11:00 PM / 2:30 PM–11:00 PM)
• Schedule flexibility required across shift configurations
• In-house weekend rotation aligned with normal staff rotation
• On-call duties included for both weekdays and weekends; call hours are distributed equitably among staff
• Evening shift assignment includes approximately 24 hours of call per 4-week schedule period
• Work settings include CVOR, General OR, Hybrid OR, Trauma, and Transplant (Heart and Lung)
• Patient population includes cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and transplant cases
• Charting via Epic (required)
• Level I Trauma facility environment

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of overall OR experience with at least 2 years dedicated to cardiac and vascular — hard stop requirement
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Level I Trauma facility required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Proficiency in cardiovascular procedures required, including: CABG, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD, IABP, mitral valve replacement, aortic aneurysm repair, MAZE procedure, femoral cannulation, atrial septal defect repair, and pericardial window
• Vascular procedure experience required, including: AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, EVAR, TEVAR, femoral popliteal bypass, carotid artery stenting, and AV fistula repair
• Transplant (heart and/or lung) experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
• Preferred skills include robotic-assisted cardiothoracic surgery (Da Vinci Si, SP, and Xi systems), thoracic procedures (VATS, thoracotomy, lobe resection, mediastinoscopy), and select vascular and general surgery procedures
• 2 professional references required; at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (charge RN acceptable as 2nd reference; no coworker references)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and transplant surgical procedures in CVOR, General OR, Hybrid OR, and Trauma settings
• Clinical duties include administration of blood and blood products, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol (time-out), urinary bladder catheterization, and wound management
• Equipment used includes electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources
• Ohio fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after signing a contract — candidates should be prepared to act quickly to avoid delays
• Former employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation; current employees are not eligible
