American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with strong trauma and neuro experience for a Level II Trauma Center surgery unit in Montgomery, AL.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center hospital with 492 beds, also designated as a Primary Stroke Center and Level III NICU
• General/Trauma surgery unit that also backs up Ortho, Neuro, and ENT service lines
• 15-bed OR unit with a 1:1 patient ratio
• Minimal pediatric cases, typically orthopedic in nature
• Shifts run Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday starting at 6:30 AM, plus call
• Call schedule is one day per week from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM and one weekend per month (Friday 3:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM) for all service lines except Open Heart
• Weekend rotation is on-call basis
• Holiday coverage is expected at least once per contract
• No floating required
• EMR: Cerner
• Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience required
• Strong experience in trauma (excluding burns) and neurosurgery is required
• Proficiency across multiple service lines including general, vascular (including endovascular), ENT, ortho spine, GYN, urology, robotics, plastics, breast, and eye surgery
• Robotics experience strongly preferred, particularly with Robotic Mazor and DaVinci XI systems
• CVOR/Open Heart experience is not required for this role
• CST certification preferred but not required
• AL license required if applicable
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
• One reference from a charge nurse or above from within the past 12 months required for consideration
• SSN, DOB (day and month), and copies of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered with at least 2 years of experience; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be accepted
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler at this facility
• Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift; buddy call is expected during orientation
• An interview with the hiring manager is required — this facility does not use auto-offers
• Support staff on the unit includes OR assistants, a desk assistant, some first assists, a charge nurse, and team leaders for each service line
• Green scrubs are required and will be provided
