American Traveler is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level 3 Trauma hospital OR position requiring at least 5 years of experience and the ability to scrub a wide range of surgical specialties.

Details

• 19-suite OR department averaging 50 cases per day across a broad range of surgical specialties
• Surgery specialties include trauma, ortho trauma, ortho total joints, spine, cardiac, MI vascular, GYN, GYN-oncology, robotics, general, HPB, bariatrics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, pain, and plastics
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, with shift times potentially varying to 9a–9p or 11a–11p based on departmental needs
• Weekend rotation every 4th weekend; coverage may be a scheduled shift (7a–7p) or on-call (7a–7p or 7p–7a) depending on need
• On-call required, averaging 6 call shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle with a 45-minute response time; call hours are 11p–7a or 7a–7p/7p–7a on weekends
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Scheduling cycles run every 6 weeks; blocked scheduling requests are not approved
• No floating required
• Epic EMR in use

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of surgical technology experience required
• Demonstrated ability to scrub across multiple specialties including trauma, ortho, spine, cardiac, robotics, bariatrics, GYN-oncology, and more
• Proficiency in sterile technique required
• BLS certification preferred but not required
• CST certification preferred but not required
• License required if applicable
• Must have a minimum of 12 months of core work experience in the specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Facility is a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma Center and holds designations as a Bariatric Center of Excellence and Advanced Spine Surgery Certification center, as well as Stroke Center of Excellence and Chest Pain Center designations
• Three robotic surgical systems are available in the department
• Department support includes Service Line Clinical Supervisors, Charge Nurses, Educators, OR Assistants, Unit Secretaries, and Tech Engineers
• Orientation consists of new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Facility-provided scrubs

• Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
