American Traveler is hiring a Monitor Tech/Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) for a Central Monitoring Unit role requiring verifiable monitor tech experience and the ability to perform arrhythmia interpretation using calipers.

Details

• Position is based in a Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) at an academic health system in Farmington, CT
• 8-hour night shifts with rotating every other weekend requirement
• Option to work either 32 or 40 hours per week — candidates selecting the 40-hour option should be aware that the every-other-weekend requirement may result in 7 consecutive scheduled days in some weeks
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of general clerical work experience, or substitution of 15 semester hours of college training per 6 months of required experience
• Verifiable Monitor Tech experience required — documentation must be provided for consideration
• Must be able to measure intervals on cardiac strips using calipers
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with office equipment including computer terminals and other automated systems
• Ability to read and interpret complex instructions and schedule/prioritize workflow
• License required if applicable
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates

Additional Information

• This role combines Monitor Tech responsibilities with Health Unit Clerk (HUC) duties, including a full range of general clerical functions and supporting workflow in the assigned unit
• Candidates will be required to pass a closed-book arrhythmia exam at the conclusion of orientation, including measurement of intervals using calipers — failure to pass will result in contract termination
• Staff are included in the unit's mandatory overtime rotation on an as-needed basis to ensure coverage
