American Traveler is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician for a Central Supply position at an academic medical center, requiring 5 years of SPD experience and CRCST certification.

• Central Supply unit at a Level 1 academic medical center with 20 or more ORs
• Floating is required as part of this role
• Schedule runs Monday through Sunday with a minimum of every other weekend; schedules are adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs
• Block scheduling is not available for any reason
• 8-hour day shifts
• 26-week contract

Requirements

• CRCST (HSPA) certification required; additional preferred certifications include CER, CIS, and CHL
• Minimum of 5 years of SPD experience required
• At least 2 prior travel assignments of 13 weeks or more each required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Level 1 academic medical center with 20 or more ORs
• Service line experience required, including Robotics, General, Cardiac, Perivascular, Cardiovascular, ENT, Eyes, Laparoscopic, Ortho, Ortho Spine, Neuro, Dental, Loaners/Implants, Plastics, Urology, and Endoscopy
• Proficiency in Decontamination, Prep and Pack, Steam Sterilization, Low Temperature Sterilization, and Endoscope Reprocessing required
• Experience with sterile instrument reprocessing and GI endoscope reprocessing (high-level disinfection) required
• Experience identifying and processing minor basic, major basic, DaVinci scopes and arms, trauma, ENT, dental, and orthopedic instrument sets from manufacturers including Smith & Nephew, Stryker, Synthes, KLS Martin, Ortho Align, and Medtronic
• Familiarity with Olympus scopes and washers
• Experience with loaner trays
• Experience with the DaVinci Robot Xi
• Experience hand-washing delicate instruments
• At least two references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required, with one from the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Responsibilities span the full sterile processing workflow, including decontamination, instrument inspection, prep and pack, and sterilization across a wide range of surgical service lines
• Bi-weekly orientations are held on Mondays
• All employment gaps of more than 90 days must be explained in the work history
• Complete work history is required, including bed count, EMR, facility type, and trauma level for each position
• Public transportation is not accessible in this area; a personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
• Holiday coverage expectations are consistent with a Monday–Sunday rotating schedule
