American Traveler is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician for a Central Supply role at an academic medical center in Vermont, requiring a minimum of 2 prior travel assignments and 5 years of SPD experience.

Details

• Central Supply unit at a large Level 1 academic medical center
• 8-hour evening shifts, Monday through Sunday
• Floating is required based on unit and patient care needs
• Every other weekend rotation at minimum, with schedule adjustments as needed
• Travelers are required to work 2 out of 4 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
• Service lines include Robotics, General, Cardiac, Perivascular, Cardiovascular, ENT, Eyes, Laparoscopic, Ortho, Ortho Spine, Neuro, Dental, Loaners/Implants, Plastics, Urology, and Endoscopy
• Processes instruments including minor basic, major basic, DaVinci scopes and arms, trauma, ENT, dental, and a wide range of orthopedic and surgical implant systems
• Familiarity with Olympus scopes and washers, loaner trays, and hand washing delicate items
• Block scheduling is not available for any reason
• Public transportation is not accessible in this area; reliable personal or rental transportation is strongly recommended

Requirements

• CRCST (HSPA) certification required — no other national certification will be accepted; preferred additional certifications include CER, CIS, and CHL
• Minimum of 5 years of SPD experience required
• Minimum of 2 completed travel assignments of at least 13 weeks each
• At least 1 year of experience in a Level 1 academic medical center with 20 or more ORs
• Service line experience required and must be documented
• Competency in Decontamination, Prep and Pack, Steam Sterilization, Low Temperature Sterilization, and Endoscope processing required
• Experience in sterile instrument reprocessing and GI endoscope reprocessing required
• Experience with flexible scope high-level disinfection required
• Experience with DaVinci Robot Xi required
• Proficiency processing minor sets in under 7 minutes, dental sets in under 4 minutes, and ortho trays within 15 minutes
• At least two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required for consideration — one within the past 6 months, one within the past year
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Reprocess and sterilize a broad range of surgical instruments and scopes across multiple service lines
• Handle and reprocess loaner trays and implant sets
• Work with Olympus scopes and washers, DaVinci robotic systems, and a wide variety of orthopedic and specialty instrument systems
• Bi-weekly orientations are held on Mondays
• All employment gaps of more than 90 days must be explained in the work history
• Complete work history including bed count, EMR, facility type, and trauma level is required
• This is an interview-to-offer (IVO) position
• Candidates based in Vermont and New York are eligible — Vermont licensure is not required at time of submission, and New York candidates may be considered with proof of a pending NY license
