American Traveler is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a 32-week evening shift assignment in Central Supply at an academic medical center, requiring a minimum of 5 years of SPD experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• Central Supply unit at a Level 1 academic medical center
• Evening shift, 8 hours per day, Monday through Sunday
• Floating is required based on unit and patient care needs
• At least every other weekend coverage is required
• Processes a wide range of service lines including Robotics, General, Cardiac, Cardiovascular, Perivascular, ENT, Eyes, Laparoscopic, Ortho, Ortho Spine, Neuro, Dental, Loaners/Implants, Plastics, Urology, and Endoscopy
• Performs sterile instrument reprocessing and GI endoscope reprocessing
• Works with equipment including Olympus scopes and washers, DaVinci Robot Xi (including scopes and arms), and loaner trays
• Handles delicate items requiring hand washing techniques
• Processing time benchmarks: minor set under 7 minutes, dental set under 4 minutes, ortho tray within 15 minutes

Requirements

• CRCST (HSPA) certification required — no other national certification will be accepted; additional preferred certifications include CER, CIS, and CHL
• Minimum of 5 years of SPD experience required
• At least 2 completed travel assignments of 13 weeks or more each required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Level 1 academic medical center with 20 or more ORs required
• Service line experience required and must be documented
• Competency in Decontamination, Prep and Pack, Steam Sterilization, Low Temperature Sterilization, and Endoscope processing
• Recent case pick and sterilization experience required
• Experience with flexible scope high-level disinfection required
• Familiarity with major instrument vendors including Stryker, Synthes, Medtronics, Smith & Nephew, Wright Medical, KLM Martin, Ortho Align, and United
• License required if applicable
• At least 2 professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required — 1 from within the past 6 months and 1 from within the past year
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Reliable personal transportation required — public transportation is not accessible in this area

Additional Information

• Candidates are expected to cover 2 out of 4 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
• All employment gaps of more than 90 days must be explained
• Complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type is required
