American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with OB/L&D surgical experience for a night shift position in a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital Family Birth Center.

• Work in a Family Birth Center at a 637-licensed-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• Unit includes 9 Labor beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACUs, 11 Antepartum beds, 4 triage bays, and 27 Postpartum beds
• Patient population includes laboring, antepartum, triage, PACU, and OR patients
• OB Surg Tech caseload of 2–3 patients per shift
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, on a 6-week schedule
• Weekend rotation of approximately 5–6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required for one shift of each major holiday: Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1
• No floating outside the Family Birth Center
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of OB Surg Tech experience required
• BLS and CST certifications required
• License required if applicable
• Proficiency in scrubbing surgeries, including C-sections, and setting up tables for vaginal deliveries
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include scrubbing C-sections and other OB surgeries, setting up sterile tables for vaginal deliveries, and stocking the unit
• Two OB Surg Techs are scheduled per shift, supporting a team-based work environment
• Unit is supported 24/7 by OB physicians, hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapy
• Additional unit support includes CNAs, a unit secretary (7a–11p), and a house-wide call secretary overnight
• Equipment in use includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, portable Dynamap units, PCA pain management systems, bladder scanners, Glucommander, and suction machines
• Orientation consists of 1 day of general orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
• Surgical scrub color for L&D is surgical green; a scrub exchange system is in place
• RTO requests require manager approval
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• Local candidates are accepted; no radius rule applies — the same rate is offered to local travelers (GA facility)
