American Traveler is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician for an evening shift OR-based position at an acute care hospital, requiring CRCST, CBSPD, or HSPA certification.

Details

• Works in the Sterile Processing department supporting the OR
• Processes adult, pediatric, and neonatal surgical instrumentation and equipment
• Performs flexible endoscope processing including leak testing, cleaning, disinfection, and reprocessing
• May be required to rotate between the main SPD, GI, and OSC departments
• Stocks code carts (adult, pediatric, and neonatal) and intubation boxes
• Pulls supplies and instruments for surgical cases using surgeon-specific preference cards
• Evening shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Five 8-hour shifts per week (40 hrs/week)
• Rotating weekends and holidays as needed
• On-call required
• Epic charting system used; experience preferred
• CSIQ/SPM experience preferred
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• CRCST certification required; CBSPD or HSPA also accepted
• License required if applicable
• AHA-issued certifications required
• Flu vaccine required; no religious or medical exemptions accepted
• 2 professional references required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to qualify for the standard travel pay rate

Additional Information

• Performs full-cycle instrument reprocessing including disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization
• Operates and documents results for all sterilization, decontamination, and monitoring equipment, including chemical, mechanical, and biological monitoring
• Responds to emergency case requirements from the OR and other departments
• Monitors and maintains adequate inventory levels of instruments and supplies
• Expected to function independently in the absence of a manager or supervisor
• May assist in training new staff and volunteers
• Time kept via UKG/Kronos
• Parking is not validated at Boston-area locations; public parking is available at candidate expense
