American Traveler is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician with Level 1 trauma experience and a minimum of 5 years in sterile processing for a full-time day shift contract position.

Details

• Full-time position in a hospital Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
• Handles a wide range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, robotics, laparoscopic, neurosurgery, ENT, cardiovascular, general, trauma, plastics, urology, and gynecology
• Requires familiarity with OR and clinic workflows and instrumentation
• Schedule is 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Experience with Borescope, OneSource, and SPM is preferred
• 40 hours per week
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of sterile processing experience, including at least 2 years as a traveler
• Level 1 trauma experience and/or 50+ case days required
• Hands-on experience with tray assembly, decontamination, and sterilization
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required
• High school diploma or GED required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Basic computer skills and understanding of basic medical terminology
• Ability to perform detail-oriented tasks repetitiously in a fast-paced, STAT-driven environment
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently
• License required if applicable
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include decontamination, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation for OR cases, clinics, and nursing units
• Inspects instruments for cleanliness, defects, and proper functionality using electronic equipment
• Restocks specialty carts and Omnicells and picks supplies for same-day and next-day surgical cases
• Documents completed work and verifies processing parameters within the SPD information system
• Follows AAMI standards and organizational infection control guidelines
• RTO is not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not remain on assignment for more than 1 year at this health system; a 6-month break in service is required before returning after 1 year of continuous placement
