American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Tech First Assistant (SFA) with at least 2 years of experience and cardiovascular surgical expertise for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment in a Level II Trauma Center CVOR setting.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting at a Level II Trauma Center, working across both the main hospital surgery center (12 ORs) and an outpatient surgery center across the street (6 ORs)
• Assigned to the Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) within a full-service surgical unit covering CV, Neuro, General, Ortho, Plastics, OB/GYN, Robotic, ENT, and Urology specialties
• Unit averages 40–60 procedures per day
• 1:1 clinician-to-patient ratio
• Charting via Epic EMR
• Monday through Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm day shift with 8-hour shift lengths
• Weekly call shift required (3:30pm–7:00am the following day)
• One weekend call shift required every 4 weeks

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of surgical tech first assistant experience
• Cardiovascular surgical procedure experience required, including CABG, angiograms, carotid and femoral endarterectomies, aortic root repairs, valve replacements, and AAA repairs
• Experience with General, Ortho, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, and Plastics procedures required
• BLS certification required
• UAP certification required
• License required if applicable
• Two professional references required for consideration: one supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience and one peer or supervisor reference from a position in the same specialty within the last 3 years
• Active certifications required at the time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted

Additional Information

• Assist with cardiovascular and multi-specialty surgical procedures including robotic and laparoscopic cases
• Equipment used includes Covidien cauteries and Stryker laparoscopic towers
• Orientation is approximately one week with close preceptor support throughout
• Preference cards for surgical procedures are thorough and up to date
• Team includes a mix of Registered Nurse First Assists (RNFAs) and Surgical Tech First Assists (STFAs)
• Scrubs are provided in ceil blue
• All clinicians are required to badge in and out at the facility
• Candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Candidates with prior employment at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission date
