American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with orthopedic OR experience for a day shift hospital Operating Room position in Santa Fe, NM.

• Hospital Operating Room (OR) setting within a Surgical Services department
• Primary focus on orthopedic surgical cases, including prosthetics and specialty orthopedic supplies and equipment
• Day shift hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
• Surgical Technologist National Certification required
• BLS certification from the AHA required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Strong knowledge of orthopedic surgical procedures, including prosthetics and specialty instrumentation
• Proficiency in instrument care and handling, sterilization, and cleansing procedures
• Ability to demonstrate 1st Assistant skills and competencies
• License required if applicable
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Serves as a key support member of the orthopedic surgical team, anticipating surgeon and patient needs throughout procedures
• Reviews surgical schedules daily to arrange for prosthetics, specialty supplies, and equipment, including coordination with vendors
• Maintains accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts and adheres to AORN Standards of Care
• Provides 1st Assistant clinical skills under direct surgeon supervision, including retraction, hemostasis techniques, wound closure, and dressing application
• Assists with safe patient positioning using required equipment
• Reviews and revises surgeon preference cards as needed
• Participates in quality improvement activities and Orthopedic Section Committee
• Provides guidance and serves as a role model for other surgical technicians
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate; local candidates are not accepted on all positions
